Our for fathers would probably roll over in their graves (if they haven't already) over this one! I can picture in my mind (I doubt it would be approved but, I can still picture it ). of what the image might be.
If you feel the USA needs a GG Allin stamp, then sign the petition! Who knows, maybe it will happen!
GG Allin Commemortive Postage Stamp
"We believe wholeheartedly and without reservation that counter-culture icon and entertainer, the late GG Allin is richly deserving of having a commemortive United States Postage Stamp issued in his likeness. His art, music, eloquent words and stage presence continue to remain a source of unbridled inspiration to millions of people worldwide. We feel that to ignore this request is in direct conflict with the ideals, hopes and dreams of our Founding Fathers who fought a tyrannical, oppressive regieme so that we may be free to express ourselves as GG Allin did."

CBGBs Festival coming to NYC
When I first heard about this event I got a bit excited about it. My first thought was it was going to be this really cool punk rock event in NYC. After the excitement settle and I had time to digest and look into it a bit more I realized that this is nothing more than a SXSW type event utilizing the CBGBs name to draw attention to it. It most likely be more focused on indie rock than punk rock and much like SXSW you can expect panel and music industry events as well as film screenings and label showcases. Is that really something NYC needs? Last I checked there was already CMJ.
Here is the blurb that can be found on the CBGBs website. You can decide for yourself whether this is a worth while event or not.
"The CBGB Festival is a five day celebratory showcase of music, film, distilled spirits and learning. From The Bowery and the Lower East Side to the streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, join them as they turn it up as loud as it will go this year during the 4th of July holiday week. July 4-8, 2012: Named for the greatest rock-n-roll venue in the world; they proudly introduce the first Annual CBGB Festival. Experience four energy-fueled days & nights of music, rock-n-roll films, insider-industry workshops, and intimate storytelling; all LIVE, all in New York City. CBGB has defined music and culture for generations of people around the world. Universally recognized as the birthplace of punk, CBGB continues to define new music and popular culture by fostering live performances & personal expression from artists around the city and across the globe.
The CBGB Festival will produce one of New York’s largest and most energetic music events in recent history. Rounding out the festival will be hundreds of performances, showcase concerts and music themed filmed parties & events in all five boros of NYC with a special focus on the Lower East Side & Brooklyn.
Attendees of the CBGB Festival will have a rare opportunity to showcase their creative talents to the numerous music fans from around the globe inclusive of leading record executives, award winning producers, managers, agents and globally published media. CBGB has always believed in supporting live music and new talent. The CBGB Festival aims to continue this tradition for many years to come."

CBGBs returns?
There isn't much information here other than a short paragraph that the name CBGBs has been purchased by unnamed individual(s). I am 50/50 on this. To see CBGBs return could be a good thing, but it depends on what form it takes. It will never be like it was and it will probably be a much bigger venue. Who knows if it will even be in Manhattan. It coudl very well open up in Williamsburg or Greenpoint and be yet another hipster haven. I will take a wait and see approach before passing judgement.

The Clash Frontman Joe Strummer Getting A Biopic Courtesy Of Julie Delpy - CinemaBlend.com
This was recently announced and it could be very good or very bad. Who would you get to star as Joe Strummer? I'm thinking they may go with an unknown for this role. Hopefully they don't butcher it, whatever they do.
